It’s just so convenient to grab take-out or toss a frozen dinner into the microwave. The problem is, more often than not, those quick-and-easy meals are not the least bit good for you. Enter Fit-Flavors from trainer-turned-entrepreneur Jillian Tedesco, whose idea was to produce portion-controlled, healthy meals that are ready to heat and eat anywhere. So far I’ve tried the Buffalo Chicken & Fries (flax-breaded and with an awesome homemade sauce), Turkey Bolognese (yummy spaghetti squash instead of pasta) and Bison Burger & White Cheddar Whips (oh so tender and delicious). Each meal took only a few minutes to heat, included a protein and vegetable, and came in at under 400 calories. The portion size suited me fine, but if you need a snack between meals, try the PBJ Bars or Peanut Butter Balls (I loved both). Fit-Flavors also has soups, salads, breakfast, veggie options and kid’s dishes. Large meals range from about $8.50 to $14.00, small a dollar or two less — easily as much as you’d spend on carryout. But, trust me, you’ll feel a lot better mentally and physically by taking advantage of this tasty option.
