About Us

Launched in 2014, Terrain is the only magazine dedicated to outdoor recreation, adventure, and culture in St. Louis and the surrounding Midwest region. Our mission is to inspire, inform, and equip those who want to explore the many facets of the outdoors in our area, whether for competition purposes, for their health, or simply for enjoyment.

Our team of writers, editors, photographers, and artists provide compelling content for a wide range of outdoor activities, including running, biking, hiking, camping, paddling, climbing, and snow sports. In each issue we focus on destinations and events, personalities, gear, trends, and active living topics specific to our audience.

Terrain is published six times a year and is available for free at close to 200 locations in the St. Louis bi-state area and beyond. Complementing the print magazine, our online presence includes a digital edition that can be read on all computers and mobile devices; expanded editorial coverage on our website; and active social media channels.
