The 2026 St. Louis Walk for Apraxia returns to Faust Park in Chesterfield, Missouri, on October 17, bringing families and supporters together for a morning of activities, awareness, and community in support of children with childhood apraxia of speech (CAS).
Registration is free, with the event beginning at 9 a.m. and a ceremony at 10 a.m. The morning also includes family-friendly activities and a short, inclusive group walk.
Childhood apraxia of speech is a motor speech disorder that makes it difficult for children to plan and produce the movements needed for speech. There is no cure, and treatment often involves intensive speech therapy. Early diagnosis and intervention can help children develop their communication skills and reach their individual potential.
For families living with CAS, the Walk for Apraxia is about more than raising awareness. It is also an opportunity to connect with others who understand the experience.
“It is important for me to participate in the Walk for Apraxia for [my child]!” says Danielle P., a parent of an Apraxia Star. “I want him to know that he’s not alone, and that there is a community of people who support him, care about him, and love him.”
Funds raised through the event support Apraxia Kids, a nonprofit that provides education and resources for families and speech-language professionals working with children with CAS.
Whether you’re part of the apraxia community or simply want to learn more and show your support, the Walk for Apraxia offers a welcoming way to get involved.
