The 17th Annual Race to the Dome canoe/kayak event is scheduled for Saturday, October 3, 2026. Nearly 200 paddlers are expected to participate this year.

The Race to the Dome is a charity canoe/kayak race benefiting Missouri River Relief and its efforts to connect people to the Missouri River through hands-on river cleanups, education, and recreation.

The race on the Missouri River includes a 15.8-mile course from Hartsburg to Jefferson City and a 27.6-mile course from Providence to Jefferson City. Both races end at beautiful Wilson Serenity Point at Carl R. Noren Access on the north side of the river.

The race promoters says this is a perfect opportunity for novice paddlers to gain race experience and enjoy the beauty of the Missouri River, while it also includes a batch of top-notch competitors racing to win. Participants must register by September 30 and must supply their own boat.

“Race to the Dome brings together people from multiple states and communities. It’s part of what we love about this event!” said MRR Race Director Steve Schnarr.

Race to the Dome is made possible with the support of these sponsors: Rusty Drewing Automotive,  Broadway Brewery, GovWatch, Klingner & Associates, Cooper’s Landing Marina and Campground, Logboat Brewing Co., Evora Womens Health, and JC Parks.
