After five years in Chesterfield Valley, Bike Stop Bakery has returned to its roots in St. Charles, Missouri. The sister-store of Bike Stop Café and Bike Stop Outpost is moving into a space directly across the street from the original Bike Stop Café location on North Second Street in the historic Frenchtown neighborhood.

“We wanted all of our stores to be here in St. Charles,” said co-owner Jodi Devonshire. “What’s really neat about it is that when we moved to Frenchtown in 2010 [with Bike Stop Café], right on the heels of a major recession, we didn’t have a lot of resources to start a business. But the Frenchtown community really embraced us and supported our efforts. We outgrew that first space in two and a half years.”

Unlike Bike Stop Café, the bakery will not offer dine-in service but rather will be “very traditional in that you walk in, order off the shelf, and head home,” said Devonshire. The menu includes a selection of homemade bread, bagels, baked treats, and coffee. The bakery also makes custom, themed sheet cakes for parties.

The bakery is just another arm of our business. We already make all our own baked goods served at the café, so we can control the ingredients and make sure they’re pure. The bakery is an extension of that,” said Devonshire. “We’re really one holistic business that offers bike rentals, shuttles, service, great food, and amazing fresh breads and pastries — one company in three different buildings where anyone with a healthy lifestyle can get what they want.”

Bike Stop Bakery opened to the public by May 1.
