Missouri River paddlers will soon have another reason to pull into New Haven: a bespoke brewery with five beer barrels, a taproom, beer hall, and beer garden. Called Paddle Stop Brewery, the pub is an extension of Paddle Stop New Haven, a custom boat-maker and guide service run by husband-wife team Shane and Stacy Camden.
“One unique feature of the beer at Paddle Stop Brewery is that we will ferment ‘clean’ beers in oak foeders [barrels or vats] from Foeder Crafters under the guidance of legendary paddler Matt Walters,” said Stacy.
Paddle Stop Brewery will be one of the few places in the country to produce oak-fermented beer.
Stacy says her team has kept the paddling community in mind throughout the planning stages for the brewery.
“We’ll have plenty of space where paddlers can relax and tell tales of their river adventures. We want the brewery to be an extension of Paddle Stop New Haven,” she said. “We’re just a short walk from the boat ramp and hope that recreational river users will make a visit to Paddle Stop Brewery part of their Missouri River experience.”
The beer garden should be ready in spring 2022, says Stacy, and will be decorated with old paddleboards and other river décor.
