Salam Scouts — a nationwide Muslim youth organization that started in St. Louis — will host its first-ever Salam Day on Saturday, May 30, from noon to 6 p.m. at Queeny Park in West St. Louis County.

The day will bring together families, youth, and more than 30 community organizations for a free, hands-on event focused on leadership, service, and outdoor learning.

“With Salam Scouts growing to 500-plus youth across seven states since launching in 2024, this event highlights a unique, community-driven movement that started right here in St. Louis,” says Nawal Abuhamdeh, president of Salam Scouts.

Salam Day will offer families a hands-on look at how youth can build leadership skills, engage in service, and explore the outdoors through scouting.

The day will also feature interactive activity booths, a 1-mile family walk, guided nature experiences, and youth-centered programming that showcase the opportunities young people can gain through scouting, including leadership development, service engagement, and real-world skills.

Salam Day — “Salam” means “peace” in Arabic — is structured as an activity-based experience where children and families actively participate rather than observe.

Local organizations will lead educational and skill-building stations throughout the event.

A guided nature walk, led by Missouri Master Naturalists, will also be available with advance registration.
