Don Massey took most of the photos in his new book The Ozark Trail: Images of Missouri’s Longest Hiking Trail from on or close to the meandering, 350-mile route, starting at the northern end and working his way south. The resulting 126-page, large-format paperback takes readers on a visual “thru-hike” of the 13 completed sections as well as onto six proposed sections that one day could connect St. Louis to the Ozark Highlands Trail in Arkansas.
The photographs are beautiful and inspiring, from landscapes to nature and wildlife to artsy and impressionistic. They are accompanied by detailed maps and historic information that deepen the appreciation for the reader and serve as a beginning resource for those looking to explore the area.
The Ozark Trail: Images of Missouri’s Longest Hiking Trail is available at ozarkphoto.com as well as on amazon.com for $19.95.
