Organizers of the annual Moonlight Ramble bike ride through Downtown St. Louis have announced that the cycling event will not be held in 2018.

Hubbard Radio St. Louis — owner and operator of New Country 92.3, 101 ESPN and 106.5 The Arch, and newly added radio properties KSHE 95 and 105.7 The Point — acquired the rights to the Moonlight Ramble event from Emmis Communications (KSHE and KPNT’s former owner/operator) as of May 1, 2018.

Organizers cite the timing of this recent merger and event acquisition, the rising costs to put on the event, and an increased emphasis on rider safety as the primary reasons they chose to cancel the event for 2018.

“This was not a decision that was taken lightly. Our management team understands the rich history this event has in St. Louis, and we hope to bring the Moonlight Ramble back in 2019 as a safer and more enjoyable rider experience,” according to Hubbard’s Director of Integrated Marketing and Events.
