Patagonia’s Dirt Roamer Bike Shorts have been my warm-weather go-to for the past year. My only peeve: The lack of pockets to stash items you want close at hand.
The brand fixed that niggle with its new Dirt Craft Bike Shorts but didn’t stop there. Not only did the design team incorporate two drop-in front pockets and a zipper pocket on the left hip, it added external hook-and-webbing waist adjustment for a fine-tuned fit without the elastic pinch.
My favorite feature of the Dirt Craft? All-day comfort. The cut is relaxed but not baggy, supportive but not restricting. The waistband is curved for a natural fit that never rides up. Another big comfort factor is the fabric; a stretchy nylon/spandex weave that’s both sturdy and breathable, with a water repellant finish that keeps any rain or mud from soaking in.
Patagonia’s Dirt Craft Bike Shorts come with removable liner shorts with near-transparent mesh panels for great airflow and ventilation. Available in men’s (Black, Retro Layers Black, Smolder Blue, and Wood Brown) and women’s (Black, Retro Layer Camp Green, and Spanish Red) sizes. $159. patagonia.com
