In a landmark achievement, Pedal the Cause announced a $5.2 million donation at its Impact Bash ceremony in November, marking the largest single donation in the organization’s 15-year history.
Despite challenging weather conditions during the 2024 cycling event, the group’s dedication resulted in a record-breaking sum, which will fund critical adult and pediatric cancer research at Siteman Cancer Center in St. Louis and Siteman Kids at St. Louis Children’s Hospital.
This year’s total brings the organization’s cumulative contribution to over $51 million, significantly enhancing the pace of cancer research. The funds will accelerate groundbreaking treatments, moving innovations from the lab to patients more quickly.
“We’ve proven that we are so much more than a cycling event,” says David Drier, executive director of Pedal the Cause. “We are a dynamic community mobilized for change and united in our commitment to cure cancers.”
During the Impact Bash, Siteman Cancer Center’s director, Dr. Timothy J. Eberlein, accepted the Bill and Amy Koman Founders Award on behalf of the institution, expressing deep gratitude for the partnership, which has leveraged the community’s generosity to unlock over half a billion dollars in total cancer research funding.
