French Corridor Expedition

Join Big Muddy Adventure’s Senior Guide Staff on the French Corridor Expedition from St. Louis down to Ste. Genevieve. Experience the river islands and historic places settled by the French in the 17th and 18th centuries while traveling in our signature hand-built Voyageur canoe. Enjoy a special gourmet menu of 18th-century French cuisine cooked over an open campfire.
This tour includes a stop at Fort de Chartres, where we’ll see soldiers, trappers, traders and Native Americans as portrayed by historical reenactors bartering supplies and buying goods. The trip will cover approximately 55 miles on the Mississippi River.
Option 1 – Paddle with professional guide in our signature voyageur canoes (Capacity 8 paddlers per boat)
Option 2 – Contact us to bring your own canoe or kayak or rent a BMA boat and paddle along with our guides and voyageur canoe
ITINERARY
Day 1 (Friday)
9:00 AM – Meet up at BMA Kanu House for packing and loading
Shuttle to St. Louis Arch landing boat ramp for put in UMRM River Mile 180
Paddle to Calico / Osborne Island for camp
Day 2 (Saturday)
Paddle to Fort De Chartres Island & make camp
Visit historic reenactment at the 18th Century French Fort.
Day 3 (Sunday)
Paddle to St. Genevieve Harbor for Take out UMRM 125
2:00 PM – Shuttle return to BMA HQ Warehouse for gear cleaning and unpacking
3:30 PM – Trip end
LOGISTICS
Meet-up is at BMA HQ Warehouse, located at 1120 Montrose (Entrance on LaSalle St.)
Bring personal gear for repacking into dry bags (Packing list will be provided as well as limited gear rental)
All food, snacks and beverages will be provided (Indicate dietary restrictions)
All kitchen and common camp gear provided
Shuttle is provided in BMA Shuttle Van (Participant vehicles can be left in locked parking area at BMA warehouse)
Camp sites will be primitive without toilet facilities.
