As reported last week, Big Shark Bicycle Company intends to close its store in the Delmar Loop and open a new one in Richmond Heights on the property that formerly housed the Hi-Fi-Fo-Fum stereo business (1155 South Big Bend Boulevard). That shop has been closed since 2011.
“We’ll be retaining the glass block/art deco windows on the north and west wall. The garage doors will be glassed in for an entrance with a functional glass garage door opening to a patio on the front,” Big Shark owner Mike Weiss said in an email to the St. Louis Post-Dispatch. “We’ll be demolishing what is known as the ‘show room’ and turning that into about 22 parking spaces and green space.”
Weiss cites parking and access as two reasons he decided to move away from the Delmar Loop. The present store will be open until the new Richmond Heights location is ready, hopefully in mid-April, said Weiss.
The Richmond Heights location will be located in between Big Shark’s other two stores, which are in Chesterfield and downtown.
