Calling all runners, walkers, and fans of downtown St. Louis: A new one-mile run is hitting the Gateway City in August.

The first annual Market Mile will take place on Sunday, August 11, at 7:30 a.m. Hosted by Spewak Training, the Market Mile is a one-mile run/walk that starts outside of Kiener Plaza Park on Market Street (near the Gateway Arch) and finishes at St. Louis Union Station. Afterward, there will be a post-race party sponsored by LHM in Union Station’s Purina Performance Plaza.

The proceeds of the event will benefit three different causes: Great Rivers Greenway, Peter & Paul Community Services, and BackStoppers Foundation. When registering for the event, participants have the opportunity to select which cause they want a portion of their proceeds to benefit. All three groups will have a presence on race morning at the post-race party.

Also, you can expect beer (yay!) because 4 Hands Brewing Company is another sponsor of the inaugural event. Both LHM and 4 Hands Brewing Company are committed to positively impacting St. Louis.

Those interested in participating, sponsoring, or volunteering in the event should go to the official website for more information.

Spewak Training is a personal coaching business that works with runners of all levels and abilities. Their team of coaches have served over 250 local athletes in the last nine years.
