The Berryman Adventure Race
April 17, 2021
Classic adventure racing in the heart of Missouri!
THE RACE HEADQUARTERS WILL BE NEAR POTOSI, MISSOURI
What is Adventure Racing??
Adventure races include mountain/gravel biking, rowing, orienteering and other disciplines to find control points along a course through forests, waterways, trails and rural roads. There is a time limit, but winners are determined first by finding the most control points. The course is not revealed until immediately before the race. Navigation is by map and compass – no GPS devices allowed! Racers supply their own mountain bike and personal gear, but maps, watercraft, and paddles are supplied and included in the race fee. If you have never adventure raced before, the 6 hour event is for you! For a truly introductory experience, try Berryman-Lite. For more about what to expect, there are some good Youtube videos on AR.
The Berryman Adventure has occurred in central Missouri nearly every year since 2001 – don’t miss this one!!
Yeah, we know the 6hr course was too tough for beginners in 2020.
In 2021 we’re introducing the Berryman-Lite!
This is a low risk, fun option for beginners or anyone who wants a gentle introduction to the sport.
* partially supported (water on the course) *
* maps will be pre-plotted *
* navigation will be accessible for beginners *
* simplified gear list *
* easy to cut back to headquarters whenever you’ve had enough *
Choose from three courses: 18 hour, 6 hour, and the “Berryman-Lite” 6 hour course.
Three team size categories: 2, 3 or 4 person
Three team gender categories: Female, Male or Mixed
The Berryman Adventure 18 hour course is a qualifying race for USARA Nationals.
The 6 hour course is a challenging sprint course designed for experienced racers.
Berryman-Lite is (I promise) designed with novice adventure racers in mind.
