A one-of-a-kind relay race at the Gateway Arch invites adults of all backgrounds to rediscover the thrill of sprinting.
Run it Back. Track and Field Club is bringing the excitement of track and field off the track and onto the streets with the inaugural Street Heat 200, a community-focused relay race taking place at the Gateway Arch.
Inspired by the neighborhood races many people remember from childhood, Street Heat 200 transforms a city street into a sprinting course where teams of four race head-to-head in a 200-meter shuttle relay. Each of the four teammates sprints 200 meters back and forth before handing off the baton to the anchor runner who races 200 meters back to the finish line.
The event is designed to make track and field accessible, exciting, and approachable for adults of all fitness levels.
“Most of us can’t remember the last time we raced down the block with our friends,” said Anastasia Harris, founder of Run it Back. “Street Heat 200 is about bringing back that feeling. Whether you’re chasing a personal best or just looking for a fun challenge with friends, this event is an opportunity to reconnect with movement, competition, and community.”
Participants can register in one of two divisions:
Competitive Division
Designed for athletes and teams looking to race for the fastest times of the day. Teams in this division will compete for prizes and bragging rights.
Community Division
Designed for participants who want to experience the excitement of sprinting and relays in a fun, welcoming environment. No track experience is required.
Street Heat 200 is part of Run it Back.’s mission to introduce more adults to track and field through practices, meets, and community events that prioritize movement, wellness, and connection. Since launching in St. Louis, Run it Back. has welcomed hundreds of participants to the sport through free track practices and competitive opportunities.
The event will feature music, spectators lining the race course, community partners, and an energetic atmosphere that celebrates one of the most exciting aspects of track and field — sprinting.
