SUMMARY:Vino Fondo Gran Fondo & Grindo Fondo
DESCRIPTION:About The Vino Fondo- Big Shark Bicycle Company and Sugar Creek Winery bring the European cycling tradition of the Gran Fondo cycling experience to Missouri’s hilliest wine country. A traditional pairing of challenging riding and a tour of some of Missouri’s best vineyards. Experience the same roads and towns visited by the internationally acclaimed Tour of Missouri Professional Cycling Race as well as some of the toughest Gravel Roads around. RETURNING FOR 2026: Two gravel/road “Groad” Options- The Mondo and Midi Grindo Fondos. \nThe Vino Fondo and Grindo Fondo are fully supported\, timed rides. Although not a race\, all participants will receive two measures of their achievement: overall ride time AND their climbing time over the penultimate beast\, the Schluersburg (Road) or Callaway Fork (Gravel). There are three road and two ‘groad’ distance options\, each tuned to maximize scenery and include as many of the regions challenging “topographic features” as we can find. This is a challenging and rewarding ride to complete. \nAbout Gran Fondo’s- Also called Cyclosportif rides\, Gran Fondo’s are challenging rides that combine the best elements of epic recreational rides\, some of the characteristics of a race\, and the visual experiences of the touring cyclist. The Gran Fondo experience is a true melting pot for cyclists of all abilities- with one goal\, the satisfaction of achievement.

SUMMARY:The Piasa Trail Races 50K/25K/12.5K
DESCRIPTION:Long before paved roads\, timing mats\, and Strava segments\, there was the Piasa—a mythical winged beast spoken of out of fear and reverence. In the Illiniwek (Algonquian) language\, the Piasa (pronounced PIE-uh-saw) is often translated as “the bird that devours humans.” It is said to have dwelled in the cliffs near the confluence of the Mississippi\, Missouri\, and Illinois rivers\, preying silently within the dark woods on its unsuspecting victims. \nThe Piasa race borrows that spirit. These trails do not relent until there is nothing left to give. \nSet deep within the rugged bluffs and forested ravines of Pere Marquette State Park in Grafton\, IL\, the Piasa Trail Races are a confrontation between runner and terrain\, legend and legendary. Short climbs don’t exist here. The footing is technical. The descents demand focus. The course lures you in with its beauty\, then tests whether you can sustain long enough to enjoy it.

SUMMARY:Central MO Circuit
DESCRIPTION:Registration is $70 for the event\, plus tracking fees. Full Circuit racers are required to have a tracker($85 for rental and service)\, Short Circuit riders will be on trackleaders via cell service($15). Ultra cyclists are all friends and family\, so if you need to use the Friends and Family discount to bring registration to $35\, it is “Circuit”. \n  \nWelcome to the finest Ultra Race in Missouri\, so far. This route is designed to let beginners dip their toe in ultra racing\, or experienced folks test their skills. All are welcome\, and able to ride. The rules are very simple: follow the route\, ride fully self supported\, and don’t be a jerk. \n  \nCentral MO Circuit The route is almost entirely the same fun as last year. The only change is a short section of single track before you leave lovely Columbia MO. There are still lots of beautiful rolling hills\, fast gravel\, and a few suprises over 340 miles. https://ridewithgps.com/routes/49188146 \nNew for this year is the Short Circuit. If 175 miles of Gravel\, B-Roads and Single track sound more your speed you can still join the fun of ultra cycling. The event will start together\, and you will still get all the trail magic of the full length race\, in a slightly smaller package. https://ridewithgps.com/routes/50454104 \nFor both events the route is fixed. In order to be considered a finisher\, you must ride every inch of it under your own power. If you do need to go off course for any reason\, you must reenter at the exact same spot. As with all Ride with GPS maps\, the elevation feet are a lie. It is much hillier. You can ride whatever bike you would like\, but I think a drop bar gravel bike with 40-50mm tires would be best. \nThere will be more information about the logistics of camping and tracking in your registration email.
