TOMS, the One for One shoes and accessories company, and So iLL, makers of environmentally conscious and stylish climbing equipment, are proud to unveil a joint climbing-inspired product initiative to support 1Climb, a nonprofit organization led by professional climber Kevin Jorgeson that funds the installation of climbing walls in Boys and Girls Clubs of America.

The product collaboration consists of a limited-edition footwear line inspired by rock climbing. TOMS classic Alpargata design has been updated with ultra-sticky “Dark Matter” rubber made by So iLL, a reinforced toe cap, heel tab and constructed of rugged materials. So iLL’s popular Street climbing shoe has been given a special “TOMS makeover” with limited-edition colorways, pull tabs and more.

The limited-edition climbing collection will be available on pre-sale for a limited time on the crowdfunding platform Indiegogo. Proceeds will benefit 1Climb’s effort to build climbing gyms across the country and help achieve their goal to introduce 100,000 kids to climbing.

Blake Mycoskie, Founder of TOMS and avid rock climber, commented on 1Climb’s impact, “Climbing can be a positive sense of escape and a positive activity that [kids] build some identity around. I’m excited to see and meet some of the kids that will climb for the first time. I’m really excited to see in 5, 10, 15 years who these kids become.”

1Climb was started by professional rock climber, Kevin Jorgeson, as a personal project to positively influence children through the sport of climbing. Jorgeson gained worldwide fame in 2015 when he and partner Tommy Caldwell completed what was widely called “The World’s Hardest Climb” when they scaled the seemingly impossible Dawn Wall on Yosemite’s El Capitan.

For Jorgeson, there has been no greater gift in his own life than being introduced to rock climbing, “Climbing changed by life. As a kid, I wasn’t any good at the sports I tried. But, when I found climbing, it tapped in to something that was primal and natural. Climbing has enabled the life of my dreams, and it all started with that one visit to a gym when I was 9.”

Dan Chancellor, founder and CEO of So iLL and partner on the collaboration, commented, “It’s been great keeping outdoor enthusiasts fashionable and creating products to help people stay healthy and succeed, but I always felt something was missing. 1Climb has given me the opportunity to help the next generation. I’m incredibly thankful to be part of this effort to introduce 100,000+ kids to the greatest sport I know.”
