LOCATION

Camp Ondessonk 3760 Ondessonk Rd, Ozark, IL-62972 (Shawnee National Forest) – Start/Finish at Camp O Grounds.

COURSE DESCRIPTION

The Shawnee Hills 100 100Mi, 100K and 50K are simultaneous trail races that will be held across the scenic Shawnee National Forest in Southern IL.

THE COURSE is a combination of 80% single track trail, all dirt with some fire roads and to keep you present there are enough rocks, roots and creek crossings.
Distance:
100 Mile Run (3 x 30 mile loop + 10 mile out and back)
100K Run (2 x 30 mile loop)
50K Run (1 loop)
FUN RUN (1 loop)

Elevation Gain Per Loop is approx. 3600 feet and Elevation Loss Per Loop is approx. 3500 feet

The Shawnee National Forest is well known for the most stunning and extraordinary rock formations and waters falls. Vegetation consists largely of oak-hickory, maple-beech, and pine forests. The course will take you deep into the sandstone canyon systems of Southern Illinois’ Shawnee Hills Natural Division.

The runners will get to explore Jackson Hollow, Belle Smith Springs, and the Bay Creek Reservoir and several waterfalls along the course including Pakentuck Falls (the tallest free-falling waterfall in Illinois), Jackson Falls, Horseshoe Falls, and Cedar Falls along with some inspiring views from Salomon’s Ridge.

TIME LIMIT: 32 Hours
CHECK IN/PACKET PICKUP: Friday, August 25 from 12pm – 8pm
MANDATORY PRE-RACE MEETING: Friday, August 25 from 7pm – 8pm
PACER for 100Mi & 100K Only 1 pacer at a time will be allowed on the course after 5:30pm on Saturday, August 26
PACER must CHECK IN at Start/Finish

50K
START TIME: 7am CDT on Saturday, August 26, 2017
TIME LIMIT: 9 Hours
CHECK IN/PACKET PICKUP: Friday, August 25 from 12pm – 8pm
MANDATORY PRE-RACE MEETING: Friday, August 25 from 7pm – 8pm
PACER Not Allowed for 50K Distance.

FUN RUN
START TIME: 5:30pm CDT on Saturday, August 26, 2017
TIME LIMIT: Must be done by 2pm on Sunday, August 27, 2017
CHECK IN/PACKET PICKUP: Friday, August 25th from 12pm – 8 pm AND Saturday, August 26 from 11am – 2pm
PACER Not Allowed for the FUN RUN Distance.

IF you are signed up for the FUN RUN and plan on pacing a 100Mi runners you can start anytime after 5:30pm on Saturday, August 26 when your runners heads out for the third loop.

AID STATIONS

There will be 5 manned aid stations fully-stocked with water, electrolyte drinks, gels, snacks, first aid, and enthusiastic volunteers!
Approximate distance between aid stations is 5 miles with no distance greater than approximately 7 miles between aid stations in either event.
Restrooms will be at start/finish only.

50K Run – Custom Medal
FUN RUN – There are no finisher awards for the Fun Run

Overall Awards for both Male and Female winners for 100Mi, 100K and 50K distances.

POST RACE

2:00 PM Sunday, August 27 – Awards, Closing and Sponsor Raffle. Runners must be present for the raffle to claim the price.

August 27th, SUNDAY BRUNCH will be served from 10am – 2pm
Meal Tickets will be required for NON RUNNERS and NON VOLUNTEERS.

We encourage you to PRE-PURCHASE meal tickets to help us better plan when we’re purchasing items for the finish-line food and beer to ensure we don’t run out of food event weekend.

Meal Tickets can be pre-purchased any time before we close registration on Sunday, August 20.

REFUND POLICY

Race registration fees are not refundable under any circumstance, race registrations are not transferable to a future years event. We will allow bib transfers until Friday, June 30, 2017 IF you can find yourself a replacement and contact us with all details prior to the transfer deadline.

THIS IS A CUP-FREE EVENT

There won’t be any paper cups at aid stations, and there won’t be any paper or plastic cups at our finish-lines. We won’t be making any exceptions to this rule, so if you don’t bring your own drinking receptacle come race-weekend, you’ll want to pre-purchase a collapsible cup and if you don’t already have a reusable soft flask to carry with you on the course (for soda & electrolyte drink, etc.), we will have the collapsible cups for purchase when you check in for the race and/or at packet pickup for $5 (quantities limited at check-in). Please help us keep our races eco-friendly, minimize the trash in the landfills and our trails clean. Together we can make a difference!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
